Bronx Building Collapse and Explosion Injures Two

A father and son have been rushed to the hospital after a Bronx building collapse and explosion occurred Wednesday morning in the Bronx. The accident occurred just before 8:00 a.m. in a small building near an auto body shop in Westchester Village.

Allegedly, a father and son were working in their basement when the air compressor that they were working with exploded. Witnesses saw the building come crumbling down from the outside. A neighbor watched the shocking explosion and rushed to help those inside the building. He located the father and helped pull him from where he was laying under layers of debris. Witnesses say that the father was crying for his son and insisting that they locate the boy and pull him out first.

Both of the victims in the explosion were taken to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators are still trying to determine whether the air compressor was defective or if the father and son are liable for the staggering property damage associated with the accident. Sometimes, household items can become combustible and cause shocking explosions.
